If you have not yet published the works which you would like to copyright, it may be possible to obtain a compilation copyright that covers all of your works for a single fee. If, however, you have already published your works, then each one must be registered separately.
You may use the © symbol at any time, even before registering your copyright with the United States Copyright Office. However, in order to sue someone for copyright infringement, you must have a federally registered U.S. Copyright.
Having a registered copyright also entitles you to statutory damages of as much as $150,000 for the willful infringement of your copyrighted works by another party. Statutory damages allow you to obtain a federally mandated amount of money without having to prove the extent of actual damages.
