About Phillip Avruch*

Mr. Avruch specializes in patent and trademark preparation and prosecution, including drafting applications, responding to office actions and preparing appeal briefs. He also has extensive experience in all aspects of high technology transactions including intellectual property contracts and licenses. This experience includes preparation and negotiation of software, patent and trademark licenses, professional consulting agreements, software development agreements, international strategic alliance agreements, customer high-technology service agreements, teaming agreements, distribution agreements and non-disclosure agreements. His background also includes counseling on issues dealing with export and import licensing and compliance, government contracts, procurement practice, and other commercial matters.

The technical fields of Mr. Avruch's patent preparation and prosecution work have included both the electrical arts (for example, semiconductor devices, optical systems, video processing and storage, voice processing, volume and surface rendering, interactive television, automated billing and payment, data processing and telecommunications electronics) and the mechanical arts (for example, mechanical scanners, hydraulic systems, power plants and medical devices).

Mr. Avruch also worked as a patent attorney with the Washington firm of Lalos & Keegan. He has also served as an Assistant General Counsel of a major international telecommunications services provider. Mr. Avruch has experience as a practicing engineer in the fields of microwave and telecommunications electronics. Mr. Avruch has over twenty-five years of professional experience in intellectual property and related fields.
